Shortlisted for Widening Participation Organisation of the Year.
I still can’t quite believe we had the honour of attending the 'Student Social Mobility Awards' this year. Even more so after being shortlisted for 'Widening Participation Organisation of the Year'!

ALSA UK began in 2020 on the floor of my parents' living room, trying to persuade my uncles to sponsor us (not super successfully, I must say). To be recognised 5 years later, as a charity of only 8 months, alongside three other incredible organisations doing powerful work to widen access, felt incredibly special. It’s easy to forget how far we’ve come – from a grassroots idea run by students, to a national charity of young people, students and professionals, creating real lasting impact in the lives of disadvantaged communities across the UK.

We are incredibly grateful to upReach for recognising our work and giving us the opportunity to meet so many others who left us truly inspired. We were so moved by the speakers whose stories reflect everything ALSA UK stands for - individuals who came to the UK as migrants, faced and overcame countless barriers, and now use those experiences to empower others walking a similar path. There's something special about being in a room full of people who care deeply about creating change, and we’re excited for what connections and opportunities might grow from it (hint, hint).

This nomination isn’t just a milestone, it’s a celebration of every ALSA volunteer, mentor, speaker, and supporter who has helped build our vision from the ground up. Whether you’ve run a session, shared your story, joined a programme, or simply believed in our mission, thank you.
